#Blogtober Day 7: Why I started blogging

October 7, 2016

I started blogging in September 2015 to save my marriage.

Okay, so maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. But hubby and I were newly married and had just started trying to conceive. Now, you should understand that when I have something on my mind, I feel the need to talk about it. A lot.

So poor hubby had to listen to me going on and on about ovulation, fertility trackers, ovulation sticks (I didn’t even know these were a thing until this conversation), what x, y and z website had to say about how often and in what positions we should you know and how long the doctor said we’d need to be trying for before she’d refer us for investigations into our fertility (12 months, but she’d be happy to lie and refer us after nine; I love my doctor!).

We’d only been trying for a month (I know, I am very impatient!) and a period had come and gone, so rather than irritate my husband with my constant chatter about having a baby for fear of putting him off the idea altogether, I decided to start writing this blog.

The idea was that it would be a record of our journey to conception; the trials and tribulations, ups and downs, failure and (hopefully) success.

Well, as it turned out I actually conceived later that month (turns out Tesco’s own brand ovulation testing kit is perfectly adequate and there was no need to pay twice the price for a Clear Blue one – my plan for month three) so had to start writing about gluten free sausage rolls as I didn’t want to lie but also didn’t want to reveal that I was pregnant too early…

You were so lucky to get pregnant so soon.

I know, I am thankful for how fortunate we were to fall pregnant quickly. I spent the whole pregnancy thinking something would go wrong as I didn’t think I deserved to be so lucky x
