Living Arrows {2018} 4/53

January 22, 2018

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

This week we’ve been getting the paint out and doing some crafting so that I can get ahead on my Pondering Playtime posts before the new baby arrives. I can report that it is no mean feat trying to help your toddler paint whilst operating a camera at the same time, even with the use of a tripod and remote!

M loved using a stamper sponge to paint with, but was less sure about doing hand prints – I’m not sure that anything we produced looks like a hand print, but I’m resourceful so I’m sure I can work with what we’ve got! I’m really excited to share my ideas for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day crafts, but you’ll have to wait until next month to see! I’m really enjoying creating the series and it’s lovely to see how much fun M is having trying out the different activities I’m setting up for her, which, if you’ve read my 18 Goals for 2018 post, is my main reason for doing it!

We’ve made it to two classes this week; Bop Tots on Tuesday and Tiny Talk on Thursday. M was still pretty clingy during the singing and dancing bits, but once the toys come out she gets stuck in there! Fortunately, she has gone back to her napping ways in the past week so I’m hoping the week before was just a blip. I’m working Wednesday and Thursday this week, though, so I’m hoping that doesn’t affect her too badly. I love doing supply, but it doesn’t really help with consistency of routine. Fortunately M loves it when her grandparents come to look after her, though, so I don’t feel too guilty!

I love the concentration on little M’s face! So adorable! #LivingArrows

I think she was determined to work out what we were doing so that she could do it by herself. She’s an independent one with things like this!

  2. Oh her little face, she looks so serious doing the painting, I love it! x #LivingArrows

    • Jules says:

She seems to be quite wary of all these things I keep giving her to do – which just shows that I need to do it more often so she’s not such a scaredy cat! x

  3. Gorgeous photo! Trying to get my daughter to do crafts is like juggling pins! She won’t sit still for 5 seconds! We do love sticker book time so that’s as close to crafting as we have got! We used to go to Creation Station art classes before the they stopped in our area and I ended up doing most of the crafts as she was too busy playing with the other kids!

They like to make it challenging, don’t they?! Today I was trying to get M to let me draw around her hands, on top of some handprints we’d painted last week. She just would not touch the painted paper so I had to do a template on a plain piece of card first! I think she enjoyed having her hand drawn around in the end, though! I think it just shows I need to give her lots of opportunities to do these things so that she gets used to it and looks forward to trying different things.

Oh my gosh, you are one supermum doing painting when you’re pregnant1 I try and avoid it at the best of times. But, she looks like she’s loving it! x

  5. I should do painting with my youngest. I did lots with eldest but haven’t done as much with my second. She does look to be enjoying it. #livingarrows

I think life will suddenly get a lot busier when baby number two comes along and I’m not sure I’ll be able to do as much, either! Trying to fit lots in now while it’s just M!

  6. Sarah says:

Aww, she’s so cute – I’m rubbish at doing painting and crafts at home…they do plenty at school and preschool though so I don’t feel too bad! #LivingArrows

M doesn’t go to nursery or pre-school so I feel I owe it to her to do these things with her. If she did I’d probably not bother, either! x
