Living Arrows {2018} 42/53

October 15, 2018

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

I feel like the weeks are zipping by at the moment. Every weekend, when Matthew and I talk about what we have planned for the week ahead, it feels like there is something to be done every day. I suppose it’s nice in a way, as if we didn’t have anything to do, I’d be bored! Last week was a blur of appointments and meetings with friends. We had a couple of lovely lunches out with adult and toddler friends alike, and M had her hair cut.

Not that you’d really notice, as she keeps twirling it with her fingers out of habit, and is pulling it all out as a result. Nothing I say to her is persuading her not to do it. I even asked the hairdresser to have a word, but she was twizzling it again as soon as we got in the car to go home after her hair cut. Thankfully she doesn’t seem to be eating her hair after she’s pulled it out, though, so things could be worse!

The highlight of our week was definitely visiting our local pumpkin patch to chose a pumpkin. Of course I wouldn’t be a blogger if I didn’t take some seasonal pumpkin patch photographs, so we spent quite a lot of time in the field with me snapping away! My dream was to have a photograph of M and B together, but of course M was having none of it and didn’t want to share the limelight with B! So I had to take photos of each of them separately.

B is obviously still new to me plonking her in various locations to take photographs, while M is becoming an old hand! I don’t think she really knew what was going on at first, but it didn’t take long for her to settle in amongst the pumpkins and I got this shot of her sticking her tongue out. We were so lucky to have such glorious sunshine on Thursday, when these photos were taken, and I love the bright blue sky in this photo.

M, on the other hand, was keen to sit on as many pumpkins as possible in order to provide me with the perfect shot. Unfortunately, her vision wasn’t really so photogenic in reality! Fortunately I managed to capture a few other nice ones, including this photograph of her with her chosen pumpkin. I’m not entirely sure what we’re going to do with it, though! I’ve seen a nice idea that involves drilling holes rather than carving, which I think might be a nice thing to try, although it’s not terribly child-friendly. Perhaps we’ll paint it, instead. Who knows? For now, M is enjoying rolling it around our kitchen, so she’s entertained by it, at least!

A weekly photo diary of my daughters' lives, at six months and two and a half. This week, we've been to the pumpkin patch!

It looks like it was a perfect day for pumpkin picking 🙂 Do you know I’ve never been to a pumpkin patch? Or a lavender field for that matter! #LivingArrows

I tried to unsuccessfully sort a lavender field visit earlier in the year. Our nearest one isn’t very responsive to emails! The pumpkin patch is brilliant, though.

  2. Such gorgeous photo’s to treasure! They need framing! #LivingArrows

  5. Ha ha snap! I love getting the pumpkin photos although yours look much more content than my monsters. I now have to resort to bribery! Hope you had a good week with time for a relax as well xx #livingarrows

They didn’t look so content in all of the photos I took! It took a little while for B to be okay about sitting on the floor x
