Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.
Last week saw the start of another of my goals for 2019 – a visit to the library. I’ve resolved to take the girls to the library every week, if I can. M loves going to the library, and I came to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what the weather is like; the library is warm, dry and entertaining! And, of course, free, so there’s no excuse not to go, really!
Monday saw B’s first proper library experience since she’s started pulling herself to standing, and boy, did she make the most of it! B loved pulling herself up on these book boxes, and looking at the book covers. She did quite a lot of excited shouting, too, which I hope didn’t disturb the other library users too much!
The visit was definitely a hit, as M has spent almost every spare moment that we’ve been at home, looking through her library books. Of course, my other goal to go outside every day has meant that we’ve been pretty busy outside of the house, too.
We had a pretty perfect family weekend, this weekend. On Saturday, we took ourselves off to the beach for a fish and chip lunch, which was a bit chilly, but great fun. M enjoyed playing on the beach in her wellies and waterproof all-in-one.
On Sunday, we headed to High Lodge, Thetford Forest, to do the new Zog trail. You can see from M’s photograph how thrilled she was about having a Zog mask to wear!
I’m planning to write more about our visit to High Lodge later in the week, but it’s the first time we have seen M so engaged and excited about something. I was most shocked by the fact that she kept her Zog mask on, all the way around the trail. I was sure that she’d take it off after a few minutes!
M even wore her mask when we visited her grandparents on the way home; I think she’d have worn it to eat dinner, if we’d let her!
It was such a nice weekend, but also so busy, that it passed in a flash. I can’t believe we’re back to Monday again, already!
