Living Arrows 21/52 {2019}

May 27, 2019

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

Last week M celebrated her third birthday. So generally our week revolved around either celebrating M’s birthday, or preparing to celebrate M’s birthday! Over the week, I baked and decorated two birthday cakes and countless number three shaped biscuits. It was worth it though, as M loved it and had a brilliant birthday on Thursday and a lovely little birthday gathering with a couple of her little friends on Saturday.

M’s photograph was taken on her birthday, when we took her birthday balloon for a walk in the woods not far from our house. We did the same thing on her second birthday and I loved the photographs, so I think this might become an annual tradition! I love the way she’s rocking her new bee handbag (unfortunately she’s wearing it backwards so you can’t see the crazy, toddler-appropriate detail) and humouring me by holding the balloon for a grand total of five photos before refusing to hold it anymore!

Poor M came down with a cold on her birthday, which hasn’t yet shifted. Today B looked more snotty than usual, too, so I suspect she has succumbed to it, too. I suppose it’s to be expected now that M has started preschool; the toddler version of Fresher’s Flu!

B’s photo was also taken on M’s birthday, at our Hartbeeps class. We go to the toddler class and have done since B was a tiny baby. She now gets fully involved and loves joining in with all the instruments and props. It’s lovely watching her join in, undeterred by all of the bigger children.

This week is half term so we’ll be enjoying having Matthew at home with us. It’s always nice to have him around, but of course it does mean that our routine flies out of the window, which makes things interesting! We don’t have any particular plans, but hopefully the weather will be kind to us so that we can have some nice days out.

A weekly photo diary of our daughters' lives, aged three and one. This week, M celebrates her birthday and B gets stuck into her Hartbeeps class.
