Living Arrows 49/52 {2019}

December 9, 2019

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

Last week, we really started to get into the Christmas spirit. We went out and bought our own Christmas trees this weekend, although I was enjoying myself so much, I neglected to take any photos! Of course the girls loved strewing all of the decorations all over the house – it looks like Santa’s grotto has exploded in my living room! Hopefully I’ll be able to tidy it up a bit this week.

On Monday evening I went out for dinner with some of my old teaching colleagues. It was lovely to have a catch up and actually be out of the house in the evening! We exchanged Secret Santa gifts and mine was this beautiful Christmas snow globe. As you can see, M loved it, but unfortunately she didn’t follow my instructions not to pick it up, and dropped it on our tile floor. A lesson learned to do what mummy says!

B’s photograph was taken midweek. She is really into books at the moment, and insists on taking one with her in the pram, the car or even just around the house. This week, her book of choice was a vintage copy (from Matthew’s childhood!) of the Little Red Hen. This photograph shows her ‘reading’ it while I was meal planning (hence the cookbook on the sofa next to her!).

All of a sudden this weekend I’ve felt like Christmas is creeping up on us very quickly! We’ve still got a few bits of Christmas shopping to do, as well as my dad’s and Matthew’s mum’s birthdays, plus a trip to Center Parcs to fit in before Christmas Day. I’m sure we’ll get it all done, but suddenly the pressure feels like it’s really on!

    Oh no – the poor snow globe – I’m guessing it smashed? What a shame!

      It certainly did! I think M learned an important lesson about listening to Mummy’s advice! I had warned her not to lift it, and of the consequences!

  2. I love your ‘in the moment photographs’. sorry to hear about your snow globe #livingarrows
