Living Arrows 24/52

June 12, 2017

On Friday Little M had her one year immunisations. I felt like I spent the whole week waiting for them to happen. I would never, ever consider M not having them, and I can even hold it together when the poor thing is screaming her head off as they happen, but it’s the unknown after-effects that bother me. Will she have a temperature? Will there be some other reaction that I’m completely unprepared for? Will any of us ever sleep again?

Fortunately, the only effects we’ve seen so far have been a red mark on each thigh, one of which Little M has been scratching at which has made it a bit worse. That, coupled with some slightly unsettled sleeping. Thankfully, Little M has still slept through (so far!), but her naps have been all over the place. I’m not sure if this is due to her vaccinations or whether she’s transitioning down to one nap per day.

I also didn’t realise until we saw the nurse for her jabs that the measles reaction doesn’t usually happen for 6-10 days afterwards. Typically, we left the weekend just gone fairly free just in case Little M didn’t fare so well after the vaccinations, but this coming weekend we are booked chocca block! Hopefully Little M will come through it unscathed or we may have to cancel some things…

This week’s photo was taken yesterday in the garden. I’m loving the warm weather as it means we can spend more time outside. My mission this week is to try and get out and about more with Little M. I suppose if she is dropping a nap, it will give us more time where we’re not tied to the house. I’ll miss my blogging time, though, as I usually blog while Little M is napping. Never mind, she’s a pretty lovely companion to have!

Any suggestions for fun places to visit with a one year old?

  1. Bless her. Vaccinations never seemed to really bother my eldest but my youngest really stuggled with them. Lots of cuddles and calpol all round! #LivingArrows

Oh yes, thank goodness for Calpol! So far, Little M hasn’t fared too badly as the magic elixir that is Calpol as managed to control any after-effects she may have had. Reading the NHS website it can take weeks before we’re clear of any potential MMR side effects, so I will keep my fingers firmly crossed!

Oh my gosh how grown up does she look?! She suddenly has so much hair. So glad her immunisations went ok x

Aww, she’s such a sweetie – I love her dress too. I’m glad she’s got through her vaccinations without too much trouble so far. Gabe reacted quite badly to all of his. At least there’s no more until their preschool ones (that’s a whole different ball game though, because they are aware of what’s happening!)

Oh she was very aware after the first one went in, believe me!! I suppose I might have issues getting her through the door, next time…! x
