Living Arrows 7/52 {2019}

February 18, 2019

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

Poor M spent last week full of snot. Her poor nose seemed to continue streaming relentlessly throughout the entire week, so we had to cancel all of our usual baby and toddler activities, as I didn’t think it would be fair to inflict her cold on the other families!

Instead, we chilled out at home and did lots of colouring, sticking, and generally consuming a lot more television than usual! We still went outside every day, but we stayed closer to home, and just spent a bit of time in the garden, or took a walk to the shop.

On Sunday, M seemed a lot better, so we went to the beach for fish and chips. Unfortunately, she took a bit of a nose dive energy wise while we were there, and ended up napping in the car on the way home. It wasn’t all bad though, as she felt well enough to play in the sand!

We didn’t bother taking her bucket and spade down to the beach to begin with, as she seemed a bit quiet, so we just thought we’d eat our fish and chips, then make a move. But once she’d eaten. M hopped up and started trotting off towards the car, muttering about getting her bucket and spade! So Matthew chased after her, collected the required equipment, and we spent a short while playing in the sand.

As for B, she turned eleven months old last week. It seems unbelievable that she’s been on our lives for almost a year now, but at the same time, it feels like we can’t remember a time without her.

I’m completely unprepared for her first birthday, though! With M we had a party with lots of her little friends round, but in typical second child fashion, B hasn’t really got the same kind of friendship group that M had, as we didn’t do things like NCT classes second time around. I’m sure we’ll still have a little family gathering to mark the occasion, though.

This week is half term, so we’re looking forward to enjoying some family time with Matthew home for the week. If you’re on half term too, I hope you have a lovely week!

A weekly photo diary of our daughters lives at 11 months and two and a half years old. This week, M has been under the weather, and B turns eleven months old.

I fee like I say it every month, but it really is like time has sped up since B has been born! Thank you, I’m sure she’ll be okay soon x

  2. Cant believe B will be 1 next month. Where has the time gone. I hope M is back to her usual self now.

I honestly don’t know where the past year has gone. Time seems to have sped up! M is getting there, thank you. This cold really seems to have knocked her for six.

I am so jealous that you live near the beach. It is my dream to live close to one. How is M feeling now?

    • Jules says:

We still live a bit of a drive from the beach, but it’s lovely to be able to get to several beautiful beaches within an hour. M is on the mend, thank you, but this cold certainly seems to be lingering!

  4. I can’t believe she’s nearly one, that has gone by so quickly! x #LivingArrows

It sounds like you had a lovely week (despite the snot!). I can’t believe B is almost 1, it feels like she was just born! We were rubbish with Gabe’s first birthday – it was just after we moved house, all my family were on holiday and I don’t think we even had a cake! #LivingArrows

    • Jules says:

I am determined to make her a cake, as I’ve done that every year for M, so far. We’ll probably have a little family gathering.

  6. Donna says:

Oh bless M. I’m so glad she could enjoy the beach in the end. I can’t believe B is nearly a year old already – it feels like you had her yesterday! x

  7. There is some horrid bugs going around both mine have been poorly these last couple of weeks. Good to know she’s on the mend though. Dont feel bad about the birthday party, Kipper is the same I am just trying to work out if he will be having a party or not – it will be his third and Monkey would have had three by then! I just don’t know the nursery kids well enough really?

    • Jules says:

No that’s it, B doesn’t really have any little friends like M did. I’m sure we’ll have a little family gathering, though.
