Pregnancy Diary Week 19

January 18, 2016

This week has been a good one. I’ve been feeling good and had lots of supply work (which has left me a very tired but I’m pleased for the work!). I’ve ended up working in several different classes in the same school, so the children are all starting to pick up on the fact that I’m pregnant.

I love working with children and the main reason for that is because I so enjoy hearing their perspective on the world. Sometimes the youngest children can say the most profound things; and sometimes they say the most hilarious things!

One day this week I was working with a year two class (6-7 year olds) whose teacher has injured her knee and so can’t work for a few weeks. The headteacher came into class to explain to the children why their teacher can’t teach them for a little while and tell them about which teachers they will have while she is away (myself being one of them).

One child put his hand up and stated: Mrs W has something painful too!

Me: Have I? What have I got that’s painful?

Child: She’s having a baby!

I explained that it’s not painful at the moment as I’m just growing the baby, but it’s very sweet of him to be concerned!

In other news, I’m pretty sure I’ve felt the baby moving towards the end of this week. It’s a very strange sensation, a bit like bubbles bursting to the surface. I’m still not certain whether it’s that or wind, but I feeling a bit more sure now as it happens more often!

We’ve also got our 20 week scan in a few days’ time. We’d like to find out that gender but more than that I’m just looking for reassurance that everything is progressing as it should be. I’ve got two friends who’ve had terrible news at this point in their pregnancy in the past, so I’m all too aware that it can all go wrong. I’m feeling hopeful though, but looking forward to being over this next pregnancy ‘hurdle’ so that I can relax even more, enjoy this pregnancy and begin preparations for when our little one joins us!

  1. All the very best for next week, I’m sure everything will be fine and you will feel reasured again after the scan. I only once found out the sex of one of ours, it’s kind of nice to know but I also enjoyed the surprise on the day with the others but as you say all that really maters is counting all those fingers and toes! #marvmondays

Thank you! I’m such a control freak I think I’ll be worrying I’m not choosing the right things if I don’t know what gender we’re having and the poor child will be dressed in cream for the first 3-6 months, in a cream nursery with cream accessories! Bit dull and probably not the wisest colour choice for a small child!!

All the best for the scan. Sure it will be fine. I only found out the Tubblet’s sex as a friend who was a midwife did one for me and I asked her. And then I never told anyone as Rev T didn’t want to know! H wanted a surprise

Thank you! I’m sure it will be too, but I hate the uncertainty beforehand! I think hub would like to know too, thank goodness! I don’t think I’d be able to keep it to myself! x

  5. So lovely that you are starting to probably feel the first movements, they really are one of the best things about pregnancy. I completely understand your feelings about the 20 week scan, even though this is our second pregnancy I cant help but still feel a little anxious at this stage. Its great to read that it did all go well, I loved watching your gender reveal, such a fab little video :-). Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays, love reading these updates. Emily

Thank you! The gender reveal took me rather a long time to produce for a 19 second video, but I’m so pleased with how it turned out! I’m glad you like it 🙂 x
