STEM Jr by Little Tikes Builder Bot Review

October 15, 2018

Last Saturday we were invited down to London to the launch of the Little Tikes STEM Jr range. M was so excited to receive her very own lab coat, and enjoyed playing with the different toys in the range. Not only that, but we were very lucky to be gifted a Builder Bot robot toy by Little Tikes, so I thought I’d write a little review, to share what we think of it.

First of all, I was really impressed with the way that Little Tikes have managed to create a toy that allows my two year old to become a mini engineer, with little or no guidance from me! M was really keen to get the Builder Bot out of the box. Unfortunately, this took longer than I’d hoped as there is quite a lot of packaging around the toy, which is a shame. Fortunately most of it is recyclable, though.

Once it was in her hands, M wasted no time at all in taking the Builder Bot apart and putting it back together again in different dimensions. She was really interested in the robot’s head, and told me that it has “a propellor, like a helicopter!” Not bad for two years and four months!

The Builder Bot comes with two sets of ‘arms’, two ‘heads’, a set of wheels as well as a pair of ‘feet’ that walk, on top of the two parts that make up the main body, so children can build the robot any way they choose. It also has a cool snow-plough-type attachment, which you can fit to the front of the body to make the robot scoop up your toys! M really enjoyed this aspect of the Builder Bot and was keen to show her daddy when he got home.

M is a little too young for them at the moment, but the Builder Bot also comes with a set of experiment cards. These give ideas for different ways than you can build the robot, and different experiments to try. M enjoyed it when I explained to her how to build the robot in a particular way, so I don’t think it will be long before she’s trying out the experiments for herself.

The Little Tikes Builder Bot has an RRP of £24.99. However, it is available on Amazon at a reduced price.
