For a few years now I’ve been wanting to visit California, in the USA. I’d love to do a road trip all the way down the East coast, in a convertible car, like you see in the movies.
My favourite place in the world is New York. I’ve been there four times now; twice in the summer and twice at Easter, but I’d love to go one Christmas. I think this is more likely to happen than my Californian adventure now that we’ve got Little M!
Hubby and I priced up my California dream a couple of years ago. However, we couldn’t justify the expense at the time and decided that if we were going to spend all that money on a holiday, it would have to be our honeymoon.
Then when we were wedding planning, we planned out the route with the travel agent. We were about to start pricing it up, when hubby decided that it wasn’t ‘honeymooney’ enough. Hubby is something of a traditionalist, you see, and felt that we ought to have an island holiday somewhere. So, we ended up going to Mauritius. I have no regrets about this whatsoever, as we had the best time, but now that we have Little M, my dream holiday is on hold more long-term.
It’s not the sort of holiday I’d like to do with a younger child; I think we’d need to wait until Little M was at least 10 or 12 and could cope with the long stretches in a car. Or we could wait until we’re retired and having child-free holidays again!
For now, my dream holiday with Little M would be to our local Centre Parcs. Unfortunately, this may be a distant dream too as, even though I am on maternity leave, we are still bound to the school holidays by hubby’s job, which makes it mega pricey! Oh well, I can dream…
Where would you most like to visit?
